TAXI BILL OF RIGHTS
CTV News Propaganda Against the Vancouver Taxi Industry
Lisa Rossington
CTV News Reporter
Lisa Rossington is a CTV Newss reporter based in Vancouver British Columbia.
Why has this award winning reporter decided to target "Taxi Drivers" in her reports? We believe that Lisa Rossington was also ejected from a Taxi when she was flagging downtown Vancouver to return to Coquitlam.
Bad luck for taxi drivers that CTV actually pays it's reporters more than minimum wage! Quite an irrelevant thought. Maybe not. Consider this. If CTV did pay Lisa Rossingtom minimum wage she would have tried to get a Sky Train home at 3 am after partying it out in the clubs. Upon the discovery that poor people do not have an ride home after the bar, Lisa may have talked to her producer/manager and convinced him/her that they really needed to go after the Sky Train folks, as most of the bar goers are college kids and youth and really needed a cheap ride home.
We now know that Lisa has reason to be biased against the Taxi Cab Industry in Vancouver BC. But is she being fair to all the other taxi drivers that could have given her a ride home, or is she only thinking about herself.
Lisa Rossington along with her Colleague Rob Brown have done a series of stories on the transportation crisis on the Granville Entertainment Strip. These CTV News stories imply that the whole problem with the downtown law and order situation is because there are "not enough cabs" in Vancouver, ignoring the good work done by Vancouver's hardworking Cab Drivers, and Taxi Industry in general, in getting people home safe after a good night out.
The fail to mention that
- On an average there are more than 40,000 people partying it out downtown on the weekends. Most of these folks are from the Suburbs where the bars will close at 1 AM.
- The Vancouver Police Department is having huge law and order problems with the Granville Entertainment Strip.
- Bars are open until 3 A.M, the last Skytrain Eastbound is 1.19 AM. Sea Bus service to North Vancouver is even worse shutting down at 12.30 AM. The bar goers who should be spending $2.50 each getting home, are forced to spend exorbitant amounts after waiting for the cab shift change.
- Cabs change shift about the same time as bars let out which is 3 AM, and regardless how hard the cab companies try, it becomes very hard to meet the demand as there is no transit. However at 4 AM when the new cab shift is on duty (and after the CTV Cameras have gone home), the streets of Downtown Vancouver are deserted, as the hard working cabbies have down a good job transporting people home safely.
TaxiRights.com will give Lisa Rossington One Hundred Dollars ($100) in Taxi Coupons if she comes up with another cheesy Taxi Tale! However we will double this if she Lisa Rossington can come up with a real Story. Like the Seniors at Oakridge Mall and their Transportation Plight.
